Capital Area Tennis Association Announces Retirement of Executive Director Fernando Velasco

The Capital Area Tennis Association (CATA) announces the retirement of Fernando Velasco as Executive Director after an outstanding eight-year tenure. Fernando’s passion for tennis and his unwavering dedication to the Central Texas tennis community have been a hallmark of his leadership. Under his guidance, CATA has grown, supporting countless players, programs, and initiatives that have enriched the sport for thousands of people of all ages and abilities.

Fernando’s enthusiasm and love for the game will remain an inspiration to the CATA community. He has expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition over the next 4–6 months as CATA begins the search for a new Executive Director. His willingness to offer support and guidance during this process underscores his dedication to the organization and its mission.

Fernando has graciously offered to remain involved with CATA in whatever capacity is deemed appropriate. His enduring support, insights, and leadership will continue to be invaluable to the tennis community. 

A future announcement will provide details about celebrating Fernando’s remarkable tenure at CATA and his lifetime of over six decades dedicated to helping others through tennis.
